I think it's equal. he likes to have someone to look after, and he hates to be lonely.
( they're family, but Graham would not hesitate to say that the wolf is more of a caretaker than he is, even though when he was younger and when game was scarce he helped his brother to hunt. it's perhaps a bit sad that the wolf manages to be more human than he is, on occasion. )
