Do you think I'd be any good at being a father?

( that seems to him to be the variable that is still unknown. he's seen Emma with her son, he thinks she's more than capable. he's raised wolf pups and plenty of puppies but never a human. in fact his childhood was so far from the norm, is he really the best influence on a child? )

Yeah, I do.

[ She wouldn't have married him if she didn't feel like he could be a good stepfather to Henry, even if the thought of them having their own kid hadn't crossed her mind. It's not something she's ready for, the conversation probably won't come up again anytime soon, but they've never talked about it before and now that they are - yeah, she feels like they could do this someday.]

I think I'd have a lot to learn. I've not much experience with children.

I watched Henry a few times when he was small, but I always missed the worst of it. luckily he was easily distracted by keys.

I'm not sure here is much to tell. He was a better baby than I was a babysitter. I'll try to remember details if you want to hear hem, though.

If that's what our future holds, I'll be ready for it. I don't think there is anything we couldn't face together.

considering I'd guess it'd be other children, we might have to think of another solution.

I know that now. Your last name's not so bad, we could always go for the hyphenate.

There's worse names than Humbert, but it isn't really mine.

( Graham technically isn't, either, but at least he associates himself with that one. Humbert is... well it's sort of just there. )

why would marrying a princess make me a prince? marriage doesn't change the means of my birth, that doesn't make very much sense.

( friendly reminder your hubs was raised by wolves. not even a curse gave him a lot of insight on the finer points of royal titles. )

David wasn't born a prince, either. He was a farmer.

[Friendly reminder that the means of his birth doesn't count for a lot when he's married to the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.]

It's not like we're going to go back and rule the Enchanted Forest, I'm not expecting you to be king someday, Graham. But you're my husband, my family. You'd technically have a title.

( that makes it easier for him to run around as king. for his part, graham is never going to feel like a prince. )

I like the title I earned. I don't have any interest in one granted by technicalities, being your husband is more than enough for me.

That's a romantic way of saying the only one of us who's ever getting dragged down by a stupid title is me, Graham Humbert.

by your own account the titles mean little, and let you're being dragged down by it? which is it?

( sorry, Emma, but it either means something or it doesn't... and you're not likely to get the contradiction past the man that married you. )

I've never known you to be dragged down by anything, Emma Swan. any title you take on you learn to master. being a daughter and princess are like to be much the same.

Depends on which one lets me call you the brave and bold Prince Graham.

[ it means she gets to tease him about being a prince, basically.]

I'm still learning how to take on most of them. Mother and daughter and wife are the ones that mean the most.

I don't suspect either will manage that without a few faces.

( you can marry him to a princess but you can't make him willingly take the title of prince!! )

I think you're quite grand at all of those, though arguably I could be biased, since I'm so intensely involved in the last.
